Grief Support Groups for Children, Teens & Families

At Joel’s Place, we provide peer grief support groups for school-aged children and their families who have experienced the death of someone special in their lives.

If your family or someone you know is in need of support, please reach out to us at 440-248-4412.

Children can express feelings, share memories, and honor the loved one in a supportive and hope-filled environment. We also offer a support group for the adults who bring children to Joel’s Place. We have been supporting grieving children and their families in the Greater Cleveland area since 2003.

Our children and adult grief support groups typically meet every other Tuesday from 6:30-8:15pm at Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village. The night begins with a family dinner at 6:30 PM, followed by the group meetings from 7:00 – 8:15 PM. Due to COVID-19, we are currently supporting families remotely; contact us to learn more or join us.

An Update on COVID-19
at Joel's Place for Children:

We continue to support our families, though we do not currently meet for in-person groups. We have kept in touch with our families through emails, phone calls, remote activities and providing additional resources they can access from home. In-person groups will resume when we feel it is safe for our children, families and volunteers.

We are conducting new family interviews with enhanced safety measures, including phone and virtual interviews to reach those families interested in attending Joel’s Place. As always, we are also taking calls and emails should you have any questions. Thank you for your patience, understanding and any feedback. Please reference our Resources page for additional support.
